In line with expert advice, we recommend bassinets for babies under 6 months old. They should remain in the bassinet until they can sit up and support their head and neck unaided (around 6 months). If their neck muscles aren't strong enough, the risk of them sitting in the seat is that their head may fall forward when they get tired and block their airways. It's for the same reason why you'll find time usage limits stated on all car seats due to their curved seat (not flat like a bassinet).
